THE MENGER BAR
Monday - Saturday - 11AM to 12AM
Sunday - 12PM to 12AM
If the Victorian Lobby is the Menger’s heart, then the Menger Bar can certainly be said to be its soul. Built in 1887 to be an exact replica of London’s House of Lord’s Pub, this establishment has a paneled ceiling of dark cherry wood, beveled mirrors from France, and the original brass spittoons provided for the convenience of its early customers.
Once the site of more cattle deals than any place else in Texas, the Menger Bar has been voted one of the Top 10 Most Historic Bars in the United States. It’s also where Teddy Roosevelt recruited his Rough Riders before heading off to fight the Spanish-American War.
Serving up delicious cocktails and cuisine, with a generous helping of Lone Star history on the side, the Menger Bar will make your visit something to remember.
COLONIAL ROOM RESTAURANT
Built as an addition to the original hotel and later remodeled by San Antonio architect Atlee B. Ayres in 1912, the Colonial Room Restaurant celebrates the prevailing neoclassical style of its time. In addition to hosting generations of San Antonio’s most elaborate balls and society parties, the restaurant has welcomed United States Presidents Ulysses S. Grant and William McKinley, in addition to Robert E. Lee, General George Patton and Oscar Wilde. More recently, the Colonial Room Restaurant's famous mango ice cream was served at both of President Clinton’s inaugurations.
Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the Colonial Room Restaurant features a fabulous noontime brunch and traditional entrees such as prime rib au jus and lamb shank with linguini. Don't miss the popular Sunday brunch buffet, which can be enjoyed on the garden patio during the warmer months.
